I'm Tosin Juliana Oyelana, professionally known as TosinJuls. I'm a contemporary abstract realist artist. Based in Lagos, Nigeria. Over the past four years, I've been practicing as a professional artist. My thriving creative haven is my studio apartment, where I reside and collaborate with my team.

Being a self-taught artist, my love for painting isn't just a simple hobby; It's a real challenge where I push my creativity beyond the basics. All the things I've learned over the years have turned into colorful and surprising abstract artworks that reflect my unique artistic style.

Behind The Work

My source of inspiration comes from elements like nature, architecture, people, culture, and the emotions they elicit, all of which contribute to shaping my artistic vision. Through the combination of different materials such as acrylic paint, lead pencils, pastels, wood and resin. I am able to craft a distinct and textured three-dimensional effect that authentically captures the essence of my environment.

My creative process is characterized by its dynamism and fluidity, marked by the concurrent creation of multiple pieces that engage in a harmonious dialogue with one another. As I transition between these works, I nurture, refine, and perpetually extend the boundaries of what I once deemed achievable. There is no room for retracing or amendments in my creative journey; each brushstroke serves as a deliberate stride towards the realization of something truly extraordinary.

From The Beginning

In 2018, I made the bold decision to leave the corporate lifestyle behind and become a full-time artist.Starting from the most modest of settings: painting on the floor of my bedroom. To my amazement, the pieces I created were eagerly acquired within a week of being posted on social media, although I was unaware at the time how possible art can be sold on social media which was not the conventional practice in the art world. This early taste of independence brought immense joy to my heart and became a central pillar of my artistic vision. My mission as an artist is to present my work to the world with utmost transparency and honesty, thus forging a path where fellow artists can flourish.
